Description

Are you looking for simple and effective stations for your middle school students that demonstrate relative motion and reference point? Then these might be it. Station activities include drawing several movement scenarios, an article about how reference point can alleviate motion sickness, a google form assessment, and videos. One station is teacher-led and the other three stations are student-led. All four stations will take 60-90 minutes to complete, depending upon timing of expectations and transitions. Create 2 of each station if you need to accommodate up to 32 students - check out the preview to see how this works.

Materials: dry erase boards & markers, electronic devices for google form, article & videos

Station 1 ENGAGE (teacher-led): Students discuss and draw several movement scenarios on dry erase boards. The movement of objects is described with respect to multiple reference points.

Station 2 READ (student-led): Students read this article to learn how the knowledge of reference point can alleviate motion sickness.

Station 3 ASSESS (student-led): Students answer 15 multiple choice questions on a google form.

Station 4 READ & DRAW (student-led): Students watch this video and answer guided questions. They then watch this short and write a descriptive paragraph.
