Description
If you're looking to teach the character trait Respect, here is a slideshow you can utilize!! This slideshow has 54 slides, and has a 15-20 minute daily lesson for 7 days.
This is great for the beginning of the year when you are making classroom rules together with the class, OR after a long break. Perhaps you need to make a new set of classroom rules after getting reacclimated into the classroom.
I have also linked in 4 writing documents that go along with the slideshow. Each lesson discusses a part of respect, suggests a read aloud, then has a writing or drawing component. The final writing paper I use as an assessment to check my student's writing, as well as how they are able to respond to a prompt. I then utilize this data to see how I need to teach writing to my students or differentiate for their independent work.
Here are the books that are suggested throughout the slideshow (they can likely be found as a youtube read aloud as well, but the books are wonderful, so I suggest you have them in your classroom library anyway!)
-Do Unto Otters
-The Recess Queen
-Stand Tall, Mary Lou Melon
-A Little Respectful Spot
-My Mouth is a Volcano
-What if Everybody Did That?
If you don't have those specific books, you can always change the slides to fit the books you have that discuss respect.
