Description
A great lesson for character building, developing respect, and furthering the interpretation of poetry, novels, and figurative language. Incorporates pop culture! The first part of the lesson is focused on character building (respect and making judgements). Students watch a video clip from "Britain's Got Talent" featuring pop sensation Susan Boyle and then reflect. The second part asks to students to thoughtfully dissect the song Susan sings using a powerful graphic organizer. Lesson plans, work sheets, lyrics, video clip link, and literature web graphic organizer included!
I use this with my fifth graders and it has always been a very powerful and meaningful activity pulling on both reading and life skills. Appropriate for fifth through tenth grade. Perfect for middle school or junior high!
