Description
These writing assignments follow new Common Core standards and are designed to have students write a Claim + Reasons + Evidence. These were used for literature throughout the year; students completed 6 of them. Each response became more demanding; the scores were tracked as a source of data.
Students evaluated their own learning during the year and felt writing these short essays proved more valuable than writing long, intricate ones. They had to more practically apply knowledge more often. These proved to increase students' competency of writing when assessed.
The price seems high BUT I swear by the effects you'll have with your students if you use these consistently. Doing this ONE TIME will not show you results. I did not see significant changes until Response 4 when my students no longer had to ask how to set up the claim OR how to cite information.
