This presentation includes the following and how to count them with numbers:

  • whole notes/rests
  • half notes/rests
  • quarter notes/rests
  • eighth notes, both separate and beamed
  • eighth rests
  • sixteenth notes, both separate and beamed
  • sixteenth note variations (eighth notes beamed to two sixteenth notes)
  • sixteenth rests
  • dotted notes- how to find their value
  • dotted whole notes/rests
  • dotted half notes/rests
  • dotted quarter notes/rests
  • dotted eighth notes
  • dotted eighth note variations (dotted eighth beamed with sixteenth note)
  • triplets
  • rhythmic examples each time something new is introduced, including the counting beneath them.

Pepperonis are used to represent individual beats and their division. It has been very successful with my students and I hope that it is with your students, too!
