Description

Do your 8th grade or Geometry students need more practice creating reflections, rotations, and translations on the coordinate plane? Could you use a calm, relaxing, worksheet mystery picture activity? This activity is both fun and challenging for your students!

This mystery picture activity helps students develop fluency with rigid transformations as they follow instructions and create cute animals on a coordinate graph.

There are four worksheets included. You can have students focus on one transformation at a time or do them all at once!

Included in this resource:

4 different mystery picture worksheets

  • Translations
    • left, right, up, down whole number increments

  • Reflections
    • over x-axis, y-axis, x = #, y = #, y = x

  • Rotations
    • 90° and 180°, clockwise and counterclockwise, about the origin and occasionally about a vertex of the figure

  • Mixed Transformations
    • includes translations, reflections, and rotations. On the mixed worksheet, reflections are only over the x-axis and y-axis and rotations are always about the origin
