Description

Sphero Maze STEM Challenge

This free guide outlines how to guide your students to complete the programming maze challenge utilizing a Sphero robot and includes photos with examples. Students will use protractors and rulers to map out a course and program the robot to autonomously navigate.

This engineering robotics lesson is perfect for informal learning environments or a quick STEM activity to promote habits of mind and develop making skills.

Materials Needed:

  • Sphero Robot such as BOLT+
  • iPad, Tablet or Phone
  • Worksheet
  • Blank Paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Protractor
  • Clipboards
  • Painter’s Tape for marking maze
  • Optional: Tri-fold board for maze (this makes it portable & reusable!)

Aligned to 2021 Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Science & Engineering Practices:

  • K-2: 1A/B/D/E/F/G, 2A/C/D, 3A/B, 4A/B
