Description
Aim: To develop understanding of short vowel sound in words (CVC words) and developing student’s understanding and phonemic awareness.
When can I use this activity?
This activity can be used during small group intervention or during independent activities.
⎫ Literacy groups
⎫ Reading groups
⎫ Small intervention groups.
Preparation:
Print all game boards and laminate. Print one recording sheet per student. Collect counters and dice.
How to play
Students roll a die and match it to one one the pictures at the bottom of the game board. Students fine a picture on the card that has that medial sound and places a counter on the picture.
⎫ Option 1: First to get4 in a row wins
⎫ Option 2: First to cover their whole game board wins.
Record all words on the recording sheet.
