Description
This 3 day lesson plan engages students in roller coaster design. It incorporates Next Generation Science Standards for Engineering Design with concepts of energy and forces. Students learn to use the engineering design process, to collaborate, and to solve real design problems. The lesson plan follows the 5E format (engage, explore, explain, extend, evaluate). My students love working as civil engineers to complete this challenge!

WE added this activity to our roller coaster unit. Students use the template to create a roller coaster unit. It is a lot of fun . It also provides for independent and group work.
