Description

Your students will be so engaged with practicing identifying and determining the meaning of common root words using these DIFFERENTIATED Word Roots task cards.

These 16 half-page task cards each have two groups of sentences that use a common root word. These task cards have been specially designed to encourage critical thinking about common root words and to encourage students to use context clues to determine the meanings of common root words.

There are two differentiated options for use.

•No underlining: Students must identify the common root word that the two sets of sentences have in common, then use context clues to infer the meaning of the root.

•The words with a similar root word are underlined and students must determine the common root in each word and use context clues to infer the meaning of the root.

These task cards also have a DIGITAL version in Google Slides. There is one card per slide, so you can assign as many or as few at a time as you'd like.

Answer Key & Recording Sheet Included

Note: These are not your typical multiple-choice task cards! They have been designed to encourage critical thinking and to help you teach, reinforce, and enrich your word roots unit at a higher level. These are best suited for grades 4+.
