Rotate vs. Revolve Visual Science Aid Picture Cards (Earth and Space Science) Stem NGSS Science for K-2 1st First 2nd Second Grade by Calen Evans
Here's how to help younger student understand the Earth action terms rotate and revolve. Post these word picture clues for easy reference!!

First, point out that rotate has the letter "A" near its center. Then explain how the earth rotates on its axis and ask you students to associate "A" with axis.

You could also ask your students to link "A" with day because a full rotation takes 1 day.

Next show the revolve visual aid. The "O" in the center is replaced with a sun.

Explain that the sun is at the center of our solar system and that the planets (as can be represented with the other letters) revolve around it.

Post these two word picture clues for easy reference!!
