Description

New learners and/or students with special needs may have difficulty understanding rounding numbers concepts. This resource was inspired by one of my students who excels in math but has trouble with reading. Lots of resources I found for rounding numbers were worksheets and I noticed that he was not engaged enough in the unit. In order to increase understanding and keep my student interested, I created these hands on rounding numbers task cards! This resource is intended to introduce rounding numbers for 2 digit numbers to the nearest ten and 3 digit numbers to the nearest 100. These task cards have 3 varied levels of prompts so students can begin with the most prompts then progressively move up.

This is a pretty LOW PREP math activity because you simply print, laminate and DONE! You will be able to reuse it year after year, student after student!

-----------------------------------------------------

Contents:

  1. Visual reminder of rounding rules: nearest tenth
  2. Visual reminder of rounding rules: nearest hundredth
  3. Rounding to the nearest tenth

3 Progressive Task Card Sets w/ 3 varied prompt levels! Most to least prompt levels

  • Rounding Task Cards w/ prompt on digit, number line (counting by 10s), 2 options given (rounding down or rounding up)
  • Rounding Task Cards w/ 2 options given (rounding down or rounding up)
  • Rounding Task Cards w/ just the number. Students need to circle if they will round up or down, then write the rounded number

4. Rounding to the nearest hundred

I loved using this resource for centers. It's great for students who understand/practice rounding differently than one another.
