Rule the World: A Nation Building Simulation
Share

Description

Watch your students become entirely engaged as they compete to see who will be the supreme ruler of the world. This simulation has students work in teams (nations) to create their own culture or the teacher can adapt the 'tasks' to have them research and report out on real nations. Diplomats and spies from each nation move around the world and develop trade / defence agreements (or steal valuable information!) in preparation for the 'War' phase of the game. Every time I have run the simulation I am amazed at how emotionally engaged the students become in the simulation. It never fails that you can stop the game and draw comparisions to WW 1, WW2 and recent global conflicts. The game is very adaptable for the teacher to align the tasks with current curriculum in any subject and/or for review purposes. It has always been one of the most memorable school experiences of my students.
