This Run a Coffee Shop math project-based learning task was a fantastic way to bring real-world math into my classroom! My students loved role-playing as shop owners and customers while practicing essential math skills like addition, subtraction, and making change. The task is well-organized and includes clear instructions, making it easy to implement with minimal prep. It’s perfect for building problem-solving and teamwork skills in a fun, authentic context. Highly recommend for upper elementary grades!

I used this resource in coordination with some research/reading to deepen learning during a community-based field trip where we visited a local coffee shop and roastery. This resource was a great blend of math and creativity, which stressed student thinking based on what they had seen in the shop we visited. It was easy to prep and easy for our volunteers to lead students through.
