Description

Scattegories: Fun, Interactive, and Team-Oriented Classroom Game!

Looking for an exciting classroom activity that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and creativity? Look no further than Scattegories—a fun game designed to bring students together, boost communication, and get everyone thinking outside the box!

Includes:

  • 1 Google Slides Presentation
  • 5 Ready to Play Game Sheets
  • 1 Blank Editable Game Sheet

How It Works:

Objective: The goal of the game is to come up with unique answers to a list of categories that all start with the same letter. The more unique your answers, the more points you earn.

1. Select a Letter

The game begins by generating a random letter of the alphabet (e.g.,

"C," "A," "T"). Pick one player to pick a number on slide 2 of the google scattegories presentation. The number will link to a letter on a different slide.

2. Time to Write

Once the letter is selected, everyone should write the letter in the circle in the top right corner on their game sheet. Everyone now has 3 minutes to fill in answers for each category that start with the letter selected, writing only one answer per category.

3. Scoring

When time runs out, players take turns reading their answers aloud for each

category. If no one else has the same answer, the player gets 1 point for that

category. If someone else has the same answer, no points are awarded for that

category. *Unique answers (ones no one else thought of) are key to scoring.*

4. Rounds

You can play multiple rounds, with players selecting new random letters each time.

Great For:

  • Morning Meetings: Start the day with excitement and team spirit.
  • Community Building: Encourage students to work together and support each other.
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Foster emotional intelligence, empathy, and communication.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Ideal for building group dynamics and cooperative play.

This game creates a positive, interactive classroom atmosphere, where students practice communication, problem-solving, and teamwork—all while having fun! Whether you’re using it as a quick classroom break or incorporating it into your SEL activities, Scattegories keeps everyone engaged and excited.

Ready to play? Let the fun and laughter begin!

I hope this game brings some joy and energy to your classroom! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions. Thank you!
