Before we can see our students grow, we need to know where it is we want them to be. Use this resource to ask the correct thought-provoking questions to design a specific goal.
This resource was designed to help students organize their thoughts, and set specific goals. Understanding how to do this will make allow students to set clear goals, thus increasing the likelihood of achievement. This can be used at any point in the year when a new goal needs to be set.
The google slide file, and interactive PDF are designed to be shared with students who can type directly on the document, and print or submit it via google classroom, schoology, email, or however you receive assignments! The printer-friendly version is designed to be given to each student in a classroom setting as a handout, and to be easy on the ink.
At the top of the interactive PDF, and embedded in the google slide file is a link to a video that quickly describes how to use the resource. Teachers can watch the video to understand how to best use the resource in their classes, while students can easily access the video if they need an example while they are completing it.
- If you are using google classroom, you can send the google slide file to students via google classroom. This will allow students to edit and submit easily.
- You can also send them the pdf version. Just be sure that they are aware of how to deal with interactive pdfs.
- Students will learn about the importance of setting SMARTER goals. They will begin by watching the video embedded in the resource. Either you can watch it for yourself and explain to students, or you can direct them to watch it.
- When in the file, for students to edit comfortably, make sure to close all toolbars and click the zoom icon underneath the "Insert" tab.
- You will know that this lesson was successful when students can articulate a clear goal that they have for themselves.
