A perfect winter song for learning and reinforcing rhythm ta and ti-ti, and solfa patterns so-la-mi.

Page 1 Shows the song on the music staff with lyrics. Teach the song by rote, passing a snowman stuffy to the beat.Clap rhythm, write on board, use as dictation. Use hand signs to teach solfa.

Page 2 Shows song on music staff - write solfa above the notes, note names below.

Page 3 Top - Rhythm sheet with snowmen to demonstrate tas and ti-tis. Good to use for very young students. Bottom -- s and m on 2 line staff to introduce older students to reading solfa on the music staff.

Page 4 Rhythm and solfa puzzle - print on card stock and cut out. Younger students use the rhythm puzzle , older students can use the solfa then put the 2 together.

Page 5 Reading quiz - song on the music staff, questions to answer.

Page 6 Quiz sheet encouraging students to really read the music identifying specific rhythms, solfa, pitch names and music signs.

Page 7 A worksheet - fill in rhythm.

Page 8 s - l -m worksheet.

HI Amanda, I'm so glad you find Snowman useful in your teaching. My 4 and 5 year olds can also clap the rhythms and eventually do the puzzle. The 6 years olds easily learn to sing with the hand signs and then do the solfa puzzle. Hand signs show the relationship of sound in space which will help prepare them for reading the notes on the music staff.
