Description

What a great way to make practicing articulation fun for kids!! This download provides therapists with an entertaining and motivating activity to use with their school aged students while targeting the development of articulation skills in order to improve overall intelligibilty of speech. Students play the classic game of “SORRY!” that many therapists already have, while practicing articulation skills, mainly the /S/, /TH/, /R/ and/S/ BLEND sounds. Simply set up your “SORRY” game (sold separately in stores) and replace cards with one set of downloaded cards. If students are working on different target sounds, then multiple decks can be used while playing the game. Each student could receive their own deck to draw from. This download includes two separate sets of game cards for each sound ,for variety. Just choose one set or sets that would be used in place of the original “SORRY!” game cards. They are look-alike “SORRY!” cards with pictured words super- imposed on each card. Students are asked to produce words with their target sounds each time they take their turn while playing the game. Also included in this download is:

•A list of the target words used in order to help the speech language therapist identify pictures if necessary
•A title sheet that can be used as a label for the Ziploc bag that the cards can be stored in

MATERIALS NEEDED:
➢SORRY game board and pawns (not included, sold in stores)

➢SORRY GAME CARDS (included)

DIRECTIONS
2 to 8 players
Setup:
•Choose and print one copy of one set of “SORRY” on cardstock and laminate for durability. Two different sets have been included in this download for variety. Cut apart cards.
•Two to four students can play this game; however if more students are in your group, players can elect to play in teams. Separate the students into four teams… Each team is told what colored pawns they will be using to play the game. Students on each team will take turns drawing cards and answering given questions.

Object of the Game:
To be the first player/team to get all four of your/their pawns from your/their color START to your/their color HOME.

Playing The Game:
Shuffle the deck of “SORRY SOUND CARDS”. If students are working on different target sounds, then multiple decks can be used while playing the game. Each student could receive their own deck to draw from. Use these cards while playing the game of SORRY following the original rules that are included with the game board (sold in stores). Each time a student draws a card, he/she must answer the name the items pictured on the card and use the word in a sentence, if appropriate, before moving his/her pawns. HAVE FUN!!!!

I love using Sorry for artic practice! Whatever number the child draws, that is the number of times her/she has to say the target word.

This is great for mixed groups in a pinch because the speech sound targets can also double as language targets. Again, awesome product. Thanks!
