Description

This multi-step project will help students learn about how living things are classified based on shared characteristics.

There are over 8 Billion species of living things on Earth.  Many of them share similar characteristics, and others are not similar at all.  Each and every one of those discovered species have been classified by scientists in a way that scientists around the world can communicate.  Taxonomy is the branch of science that systematically organizes these species.

I am just beginning to use this resource with my students. We loved the jelly belly classification activity! It really helped my students get the hang of using a key to identify objects. I would love to have the water bottle pictures you used in this activity. Could you email them to me? alisha8@bellsouth.net Thanks so much for sharing a great project!
