Description

In this hands-on STEAM activity, students are tile pattern designers, creating a design for their client, Mr. Buzz. To draft their work, they will be using pattern blocks.

Like any tile art designer, they'll need to stay within budget, know the area they are covering with tiles, and create a visually pleasing design. They will reproduce their block design as a drawing on triangle grid paper, fill in a data table, and work with classmates to describe patterns in the data.

This activity comes complete with photos of tile designs, a lesson plan, triangle grid paper, and discussion questions.

I hope you love this activity as much as I do!

This was such a fun activity for my 4th grade enrichment group! It was so interesting to watch them transfer their designs to the triangle area paper :-) My group really enjoyed it!

This is a wonderful enrichment activity! Also a great way to incorporate different math topics all into one project. Tons of fun and makes great art work to display!
