Description
A light activity with a STEM component for light and sound science where students make a simple stop motion spinning disc called a thaumatrope. The disc has an image on each side; for example, one side has a horse and the other has a hurdle. When spun quickly the images will appear to merge into one picture. Simple animation and what fun! Directions to make the disc are completely described.
The seven different templates listed below are provided. A blank template is also provided for those that want to give their own a try! “Thaumatropes were popular toys in the 1800’s.”
