Description

This math STEM project gives students the opportunity to use the Engineering Design Process and their rounding skills! It is a highly engaging activity where the children round amounts of tokens to buy recycled materials to ultimately create an animal. This math learning opportunity is teacher friendly because it is differentiated, includes rubrics, parent letters, and printable or digital student journals to meet your needs. My students love this extension because they use their rounding knowledge in a real world situation!

This product includes:

  • Teacher Directions Digital
  • Teacher Directions Printable
  • Rubrics
  • Parent Letter
  • Suggested Questions to Ask Your Students
  • Suggested Audience Ideas
  • Digital Student Engineering Notebook
  • Printable Student Engineering Notebook
  • Table of Contents

The Practices of Science and Engineering in NGSS

3. Planning and carrying out investigations

4. Analyzing and interpreting data

5. Constructing explanations (for science) and designing solutions (for engineering)

6. Engaging in argument from evidence

7. Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information

*This is a project where students will use rounding to "buy" recyclable materials to create an animal. Students will use the Engineering Design Process to build. All solutions will be different and unique!
