Description

This PDF document is a great graphic organiser to compliment the STEM activity - How the Build a Birds Nest.

In this activity, students are asked to design a birds nest out of natural materials only. To collect these materials you can go on a nature walk and discuss how birds use each materials (e.g. for warmth, for stability, for padding). We also watched a video on how birds make their nests and the materials they use.

This activity challenges students to think about the structure of a nest, the use of each material, their nest plan and how it differs as they begin to build their nest. It also puts to the test their teamwork, creativity, communication and fine motor skills.
