STEM Challenges can help students understand volume! These three STEM challenges will have your students comparing containers, using scoops to estimate, and designing a container for a specified amount of materials.

What are the challenges?
In Volume with Popcorn, students design a container for a certain amount of popcorn. This lesson features the picture book “The Popcorn Book” by Tomie dePaola.
In Volume with Scoops, students have one large container and a scoop. They add scoops of different materials to the larger container and determine how many scoops of each material they will need. Their perception of how many scoops it will take and then the discovery of what actually happens will amaze them!
In Volume with Boxes, students use one piece of paper to create a box that will hold weight. The resource includes 2 versions - an easier one and amore challenging one. Students will love the hands-on exploration of creating a box and learning more about volume.
The resources specifically contain the following:

- 4-5 pages of Step-by-Step Procedures with tips
