Traffic Jam! Pine City Math Measurement Project

Oh no! There is a major traffic jam in Pine City and it's even causing problems for the Fire Department! You have just been hired as a traffic engineer by the City to perform a traffic study to get to the bottom of this traffic nightmare. Your traffic study will evaluate all-important Fire Department Response times for the existing traffic conditions and for (2) options to improve the traffic. Have fun learning about what traffic engineers do and helping the City solve their traffic problems!

There are 3 Exciting Modules in this Project:

MODULE 1: Introduction into traffic engineering through a variety of activities to cultivate interest.

MODULE 2: Evaluate the existing traffic problem in Pine City and determine how bad of a traffic problem it is for the Fire Department. Have fun using the Pine City Map, measurement, charts, graphs, and skip counting to get the answer.

MODULE 3: Evaluate (2) options to solve Pine City's traffic problem. Both options look promising, but which one is best? Is it Option 1: building a new road and another Fire Station? Or is it Option 2: Build a beautiful truss bridge across Pine Lake? Have more fun using the Pine City Map, measurement, charts, graphs, and skip counting to see which Option is best? It's going to be a close call!
