Description

A STEM easy prep quick activity is the perfect way to add science and engineering to your classroom! This challenge features the task of creating a launcher for pom-poms using some simple supplies you probably already have. My students loved this so much!

What is the challenge?

  • Students will design and build a catapulting-type device that will launch pom-poms.
  • Feel free to add your own ideas for decorative requirements.
  • Holiday decorations are always fun—try creating a launcher that will propel jellybeans, small pumpkins, or conversation hearts.

What is your prep?

In addition to this package, supplies needed include pom-poms, tape, straws, craft sticks, rubber bands, paper clips, index cards, foam cups, and a container for each group’s supplies.

The package specifically contains:

  • Teacher Background
  • 3 pages of teacher directions
  • Set of Criteria cards for students (with and without background color)
  • Lab Sheet
  • Folding Graphic Organizer page
  • 3 Photo pages
  • Scoring rubric
  • Terms of Use
  • Also included is a file with forms in an editable format.
