Description

Have fun with this hand-on STEM lab. Students will get to work on mastering their scientific observational skills, develop their analytical skills while analyzing the data they collected, practice their math skills - including counting, weighing, measuring, creating tallies and charts - all while having fun making a chili recipe.

This lesson is perfect for any units focused on western life, cooking, Texas, New Mexico and rodeo. For those close enough to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - we have loved using this lesson as an intro to learning about the World Championship BBQ Cook-off that opens rodeo season.

This activity is a fun way to practice all of the observational and analytical skills needed to achieve your Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and follows the scientific method from investigation through presentation of data.
