Description

Science - Paper Plane Challenge #2

You are a scientist conducting a study on plane designs. You'll be investigating factors that help airplanes stay lifted and reach their destination. Although we won't be designing an actual plane, we'll be using the same concepts to build paper airplanes. Using only paper, tape, coins as cargo, and a pair of scissors, you'll be able to test which design features allow your airplane to fly the furthest while carrying the most cargo.

Technology/Art - Stop Motion Animation

You are producing a Stop Motion Animation Short Film. You will be using a website called Cloud Stop Motion to take a long series of pictures and clip them together in a way that exhibits motion. When played together with music and sound, your pictures should end up telling a story and appear very similar to a video.

Engineering - Marble Run

You are constructing a Marble Run: a course made of household materials and taped to a wall in a way that will guide a marble through the course using only Inertia. Taping it to a wall will allow for the marble to travel at a continuous downward slope, allowing gravity to propel the marble through the course to the finish.

Math - Birthday Bash

You are a Professional Party Planner planning a birthday party for your favorite person…. YOURSELF. Time to plan the party of your dreams! You will choose a theme with decor, create an invitation and guest list, decide on a location with activities, order food to feed your guests, buy party favors to hand out, and finally organize a budget… to let your parents know how much they owe. There is no limit on spending, so think big and don’t hold back!

Business - Shark Tank

Today you are an entrepreneur Preparing to go on Shark Tank and pitch your new product to the Sharks. You need to create a unique product and a business proposal (Pitch) that will persuade the Sharks to invest in your business. As you create your project, think about the episode clips of Shark Tank from the previous pages. What products did the sharks invest in? What products did the sharks reject? Why? Keep that in mind as you plan.
