Description
I saw an activity posted on Pinterest by MathCoachsCorner and I tweaked it to work for St. Patrick's Day. You print the picture of the leprechaun and place it in a box lid or a basket. Give the students a target number or coins or tokens. Place the coins in the lid as well and instruct students to shake the lid GENTLY. Students will count and record the number of coins that land on and off the leprechaun.
Decomposing/Composing/Number Sense
I also made a recording sheet if you want to use it but you could also print a few of these and put it in a slipcover for a math center. You could also just record on plain paper.
