Description

This three-day lesson builds students' schema about author Sandra Cisneros before starting the novel, "The House on Mango Street." It also serves as a Common Core style assessment which requires students to read and annotate two informational texts, watch one video (an interview with the author), and collaborate in answering eight evidence-based multiple-choice questions. The Numbered Heads Together strategy is used for collaboration.

Next, students answer a constructed response question by forming a claim and using textual evidence. A grading rubric is included.
