Description
This low-prep, highly engaging STEM challenge will keep your students excited while learning important science and engineering concepts!
In this hands-on winter-themed activity, students are challenged to protect a penguin from melting ice. Acting as engineers, they will design and build creative solutions to slow down the melting process and keep their penguin safe for as long as possible.
This activity introduces students to real-world problem solving while exploring concepts such as heat transfer, insulation, and environmental awareness.
Students will follow the engineering design process by planning, building, testing, and improving their designs.
It’s the perfect combination of science, creativity, and critical thinking!
What Students Will:
- Design a solution to protect a penguin from melting ice
- Build their model using simple materials
- Test how long their design can prevent melting
- Record observations and results
- Reflect on their design and suggest improvements
