This lesson allows students to apply their understanding of ratio to geometry, focusing on how to apply scale factors to create similar shapes, both on and off coordinate grids - perfect for developing an understanding of ratio and proportion through clear explanations and thought-provoking challenges.

💡 Knowledge:

  • I know that a scale factor is a ratio that describes how much an object has been enlarged or reduced. In this lesson, we focus on identifying the specific number (the Scale Factor) that connects two similar shapes.

✍️ Skills:

  • I can use a scale factor to draw an enlargement of a shape on a grid. In this lesson, we practice moving from a small "seed" shape to a large-scale version using specific multipliers.
