In this activity, students will analyze calories and fat fast food sandwiches. They will collect data, create a scatterplot, and generate a line of best fit. Then they will use this information to create equations in Slope Intercept Form and Point Slope Form. The equations will be used for making predictions and inferences. Students are encouraged to work in groups to collect the data to help “divide and conquer” the work. This activity can be used as an introduction to PSF and SIF or as a summative activity or assessment. It is an eye opening experience for students to see what type of nutrition they are and are not consuming with fast food!
