*NOTE* This manual was updated in July 2026 for Destiny 24.0. It also includes directions and screenshots for older versions of Destiny.

This is school library manual is the exact resource I wish someone had handed me when I became a librarian!! It's perfect for new librarians, long-term subs, volunteers, paras/associates or anyone else who needs training or directions on how to do basic library tasks.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Completely editable (except for the cover image) PowerPoint and Google Slides files and a Canva template. The content in each is identical, pick the format that's easiest for you to edit!

All the directions are specifically for Destiny and include:

Circulation

• Check books in/out including renewing books, holds, interlibrary loans, and printing receipts
• Mark books as lost
• Print overdues by homeroom

Cataloging

• Add titles including how to create a MARC record from scratch using the Easy MARC Editor
• Add/edit copies
• Delete title or copy
• Batch update copies - this is how you can change the call number prefix, or add a category or sublocation to a group of books
• Batch delete copies - very handy for weeding books!
• Print your own barcode and spine labels
• Create and updating resource lists

Admin/Reports

• Add/edit patron info
• Manage homerooms
• Inventory
• Lost Book Report
• Weeding

There are also sections on shelving, book repair, and technology support plus space to add your library's policies for checkout, overdues, lost/damaged books, vendor information, and note-taking pages.
