Description
Integrate reading into your science curriculum with the easy to use FOCUS close read format. Students will read to understand the life cycle of a plant. Through the FOCUS process, they will complete three levels of thinking through activities while engaging in the text multiple times.
Students will read about the life cycle of plants and complete comprehension and evidence based activities throughout the course of several days. Each step is designed for scaffolding and targeting students learning styles.
By using the FOCUS close reading format for teaching energy transfer, students will search through the text to learn vocabulary and key concepts. Activities in this packet provide consistency and effectiveness for both student's and teachers.
Includes:
*12 Vocabulary Posters
*Teacher Guide and Checklist- Provides guidance and documentation for student success.
*Rubrics- 2 FOCUS rubrics are provided to help you understand the purpose and your students progress.
*1 Close Read Passage- 860 Lexile
*1 Student Goal Tracker- Students become more aware of their thinking and learning as they track their progress

*Unwrapping the text- Students will analyze the structure of the text and its text features to complete an engaging and insightful activity. By searching and citing the text, students will become more familiar with the content.
*Show- Students may choose from 4 task cards (or you can choose one in advance) to complete a higher level activity to show comprehension of the material.
*Stations- (3) Integrates art and writing to provide additional review of the content
