Description

Description:

Do you need an easy way to grade interactive science notebooks? These rubrics are my favorite way to grade and provide feedback to my students on the skill of science notebooking! These rubrics are extremely helpful with implementing standards-based grading, providing clear expectations, and teaching students the skill of keeping an organized interactive science notebook. These rubrics are editable and the resource includes lots of picture examples.

What's Included:

  • PDF file with two versions of the science notebook rubric (one version is for 6th & 7th graders and the other is for 8th grade)
  • PowerPoint file that is editable of the two versions of rubrics
  • Several pages of examples and pictures of science notebooks and the different components

How I Like to Use This Product:

At the beginning of the school year, I give every student a copy of this rubric on the day that we set up our science notebooks. We go over the rubric together and I give lots of examples of the criteria to have a “good” science notebook (Level 3 & 4 boxes). Students then tape this into the inside front cover of their composition notebook (if you turn it sideways it fits perfect). I use this rubric when I grade their notebooks and students also use this rubric for peer and self assessment. If you like this product, check out the science notebook covers!

I found this resource so useful! I printed the copy and added it to the back of their notebooks. Students really appreciated a visual of how they will be graded and work hard towards earning their grade.
