Description

Science Process Skills--Included are four information sheets (Constructing Hypotheses, Identifying Variables, Observations & Inferences, Basic Science Process Skills), a worksheet (Identifying Variables), a quiz (Variables), and a lab experiment (Heat Effects).

Lecture Brand Spinach a treasure trove of material that John Kevin Kelly, an inventive high school chemistry teacher, created during his tenure in secondary education. For 19 years, Kevin taught all levels of Chemistry at Pittsburgh Public School’s now defunct Oliver High School. He was well liked and well respected by both his students and co-workers, largely due to his ability to connect with others, his humor, and his immense passion for science and education. He was an eccentric, highly intelligent teacher who could turn just about anything into a chemistry tutorial. A former co-worker once said that Kevin could “pick up any item on any table and turn it into an informative lesson.” It was Kevin’s intention to create a chemistry textbook with the curriculum he designed, but was unable to do so before he passed away in 2006. It is his family’s wish to see Kevin’s work under the fluorescent light of a classroom lab where it belongs, not wasted in the clutter of a dust covered hard drive. Lecture Brand Spinach is essentially the complete collection of Kevin’s created works. Even the Logo is one of his drawings, found in a notebook, illustrating his notes from a curriculum meeting.
