Description

185-page printable ebook to develop scientific thinking for grades 4-6.

Sciencewise uses experiments with surprising outcomes and hands-on activities that require critical thinking to teach scientific analysis and problem solving.

Dynamo Demos is a teacher-led section of Sciencewise that helps students to develop the science process skills: observing, predicting, experimenting, eliminating data, and drawing conclusions. In addition, students develop their problem solving and creative / critical thinking skills.

Creative Challenges are the student-centered portions of Sciencewise that helps students develop their creative / critical-thinking, problem-solving, and "inventioneering" skills.

In the Dynamo Demos, the teacher sets up an experiment and uses select questions to guide the students to a solution of the given problem. With the Creative Challenges, the teacher presents the problem (challenge) then functions merely as a technical advisor. Students must design and develop a solution to the problem (challenge). This allows students to practice and apply the science process skills demonstrated in the Dynamo Demos.

Teaching Support

Includes easy-to-use guidelines and minimal setup. Supplies can generally be found around the home or classroom.
