Description

This resource is extremely versatile and can be adapted to fit a variety of classroom needs. Use it to introduce the steps of the scientific method, support note-taking, or reinforce learning through interactive practice.

  • Full-size pages can be printed and used as a visual guide or reference during direct instruction.
  • Print and cut each page in half (separating the description from the example) and pass them out to students. Have them find their matching partner in the room—an engaging way to promote movement and collaboration.
  • Use as a card sort activity—either individually or in groups—where students work to match the steps of the scientific method with the correct examples.

In my Sheltered Earth Science class (ESL), I use this as a partner activity, where students discuss and collaborate to match each description to its example. It's a great way to build vocabulary, reinforce comprehension, and get students talking science!
