Description
This is a hands-on science lab that enables students to practice using the scientific method. It can be completed as an individual assignment or in groups. This lab can be used in all science subject areas to introduce the scientific method. Students must design their own experiment based around studying the movements of a pendulum. This lab requires the student to develop their own hypothesis, experiment, and data collection methods. Students must then analyze and communicate their results. This lab breaks the rules of the typical "recipe" lab by allowing students to create their own procedures/methods. Minimal materials are needed. I have found it works best with students working in groups of 3.
