Description
This PowerPoint uses a Lego inspired theme to introduce the scientific method to middle school students. It is the follow-up to my Lab Vocab PowerPoint. It begins with having the students discuss what three pieces of knowledge the remaining people should know if the world was taken over by zombies and all technology and communications were lost. The presentation then guides the students to realize that the scientific method is the ultimate resource for solving problems and developing new technology. Each step of the scientific method is then explored in the remaining slides.
I present it to my 5th-8th grade science classes at the beginning of every year and my students refer back to its accompanying notes often when working on class experiments, writing lab reports and conducting independent science projects. Most slides include teacher presentation notes in case you need help explaining the slide to the class. A template slide is included at the end if you would like to add your own slides. The accompanying fill in the blank class notes can be downloaded for free.
