Description

I LOVE this lab! My students LOVE this lab! When I am introducing the scientific method, few labs are easier to complete than this one and the materials couldn't be easier to prepare (literally). This investigation helps students to understand the scientific method and how the independent and dependent variables affect the distance that a paper airplane travels. In addition, students are able to focus on their team building and cooperation skills! Have fun! This lab is a guaranteed hit!

Materials needed (per student/group): three pieces of paper, this packet, meter stick and paper clips.

The designed PDF can be enjoyed the way it is, but a straightforward editable word doc is included as well.

My students worked on this assignment for two class periods. They loved getting to design and test their airplanes in class. Some even went into the hallway to throw the planes so they had more room to throw them. I would definitely recommend this activity!
