Description

Included are 28 task cards that have to do with operations with scientific notation and putting numbers in scientific notation.

These skills include:

Changing from standard to scientific notation and vice versa

Putting a number in proper scientific notation when it’s almost in scientific notation.

Adding/subtracting with numbers in scientific notation (both with like and unlike powers of 10)

Multiplying/Dividing with numbers in scientific notation

Word problems that involve adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing with numbers in scientific notation.

There is also a student work paper for students to show their work and record their answers on. On the work paper is an extra 2 written questions. One that asks students to make their own word problem involving scientific notation and the second asks students when is a time that it might be more practical to use numbers that are not in scientific notation. These questions are not on the task cards and can be deemed optional or extra credit.
