Scientific Notation Review Activity - Mining Mission in the Unknown Galaxy.

In this Math Challenge, students practice: converting to and from scientific notation, converting metric units (length and mass), exponent rules, writing very small and very large numbers using scientific notation (positive and negative exponents), operations with scientific notation, comparing numbers written in scientific notation, applying operations on scientific notation to real world applications.

Your goal is to extract as much as possible of a newly discovered chemical element, whose resources are found only on 9 unknown planets.

Space is an unpredictable place, where speed and g-force are a huge danger to your spacecraft. So you have to plan your route carefully so as not to exceed the kilometer limit, or you may end up in disaster.

Each planet you land on has its own specific conditions - the time you can spend there is limited by dangerous radiation. In addition, on some planets, the extraction of the element goes quickly and efficiently, while on others you will have to show patience and precision.

Be ready for a challenge that requires both knowledge of scientific notation and excellent planning skills!

The file is editable, so you can change the numbers to your own.

2 options: with a space as the thousands separator, and with a comma as the thousands separator.
