Description
This bundle contains four seasonal themed PowerPoint games to help the students practice solving word problems with numbers through 20. They contain the following components:
Round 1: Introduction. It will explain several different examples of "signals" of when you should add and subtract.
Round 2: The students will play a short game reviewing different kinds of "signals" (clues, key words, phrases, etc) of when to add and subtract.
Round 3: The students will answer 25 seasonal themed word problems. These problems are not multiple choice. However, the correct number sentence will be given in the following slide for instant feedback.
**The Lightning Round: This round will be like electronic flash cards. A number sentence will appear on the screen. The students can say the answer or write it down before the teacher reveals the answer on the following slide.
These activities can be used as an independent center, team game, or whole group with the students solving the problems on their own and then checking them together as a class. I personally use these word problems as a daily "Problem of the Day" activity with my second grade classroom.
Students can answer the questions on dry erase boards, paper, math journals, etc. The answers follow all of the questions so the students will get instant feedback.
