Description
Product Description:
This journal is more than a collection of word problems. These journal prompts ask students to “Read It, Draw It, Solve It and Explain It” for each strand of the Virginia Second Grade Math Standards of Learning (SOLs). Getting students to write about their mathematical thinking is a powerful tool in helping them to continue to grow in their learning. Writing about their mathematical thinking will help students to prepare for standardized testing and show a true conceptual understanding of the math concepts rather than just test if the student gets the correct answer.
Formats:
1. Full Page Prompts: They can be printed on a single sheet of paper and used as an assessment or homework assignment. All of the pages are able to be bound into a book at the end of the year or they can be glued into a spiral or composition notebook.
2. Strips: One page includes several copies of the same prompt. This is a huge paper saver! Students can glue the strip into their math notebook. This is perfect for centers, morning work, early finisher work, etc.
3. PowerPoint: This is a no prep option! Just display the desired slide on your board and students can respond to the question in their math notebook. This is great for bell ringers, math warm-up or exit tickets at the end of a lesson.
4. Google Slides: These slides make it easy to assign a prompt in Google Classroom! Students can respond to the prompt directly on the slide.
Every single second grade Standard of Learning strand is covered!
