This is a set of ten math pages that use a secret code to challenge your students’ adding and early algebra skills. First, students solve the missing numbers at the top of the page and use that to fill in the secret code. Then, students use the secret code to solve the adding problems. I encourage my students to write the numbers that go with each picture under the pictures or on a separate sheet of paper. I also encourage students to use whatever adding strategy they need – fingers, a number line, a hundreds chart, draw a picture, or counting cubes. These are great for morning work, early finishers, or for extra practice.
