ASCA Standard-PS:A1.1 Develop positive attitudes toward self as a unique and worthy person
We all know the importance of socio-emotional learning especially in a time like this. This video lesson serve as a perfect way to help meet these needs of your students rather you're in the classroom or online! This product includes a downloadable video to share with your students and families to help inform children about self-esteem.
In my work I'm often reminded of how much truth the adage "hurt people, hurt people" posses. Time and time again conflicts are amplified partially due to low self-esteem of one or both students involved. I believe helping to develop self-esteem in our students is just as critical as helping them to build other conflict resolution skills. When we teach our students to love themselves the hurtful words and actions decrease towards others and the words from others don't hold nearly as much weight . This video works perfectly as-is but can also serve as a visual guide to compliment your own lesson on self-esteem. There are so many possibilities!
This video covers things such as
- What self-esteem
- Why having self-esteem is important
- Steps they can take to build self-esteem through thing such as affirmations, practicing their skills and so forth.
If you find this video valuable please consider leaving feedback and sharing!
