Why teach self-regulation?
Self-regulation is our ability to understand and manage our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Self-regulation lets us make better decisions, deal with frustration, and navigate relationships. We learn to follow directions, make good decisions, and become better learners. Coping, thinking, and calming skills give us tools to help us regulate our emotions by adjusting our level of alertness, calming our body, and quieting our mind.

- Students can create and personize their own.
- Teacher, counselor, occupational therapist or other support professional can create guides for specific students.
- Create a general guide for students who need them “in the moment.”
