Self/Peer Editing Checklist

These checklists are an excellent way of ensuring that students re-read their work and self-evaluate what they have written. Checklists also include a column for a peer to evaluate the piece of writing. These editing checklists help students identify their own writing goals, making them more meaningful and effective. I staple or glue the completed checklists next to the writing sample.

Home Learning Checklists

I have adapted the self/peer editing checklists to make them more suitable for home use. These only have one column for self-editing. The top half of the checklist should be checked off as they complete each step of their writing. This serves a reminder of all the paragraphs that should be included. The second half of the checklist should be completed after the whole writing piece is finished.
